My fiber series emphasizes minimalistic and meditative properties. I begin by wrapping the piece with mass produced bra and corset making hook and eye tape and then combine that with hand sewn threads between the elements, to create intricate pattern and grid designs. The works also makes statements, speaking metaphorically, about restrictions and constrictions put upon different genders and races throughout history and in society today.
Inspiration for my work comes from my Grandmother's love of sewing, the meditative qualities of Agnes Martin's line work, the joys of creating new ways to use traditional sewing materials, the universal occurrence of pattern, and post-minimalist concepts from the late 1960's.
